Ontario Provincial Police Association (OPPA) employees overwhelmingly ratified a five-year collective agreement negotiated by their union, Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304.

The parties were very happy to successfully negotiate a contract that is fair and reasonable, maintains existing entitlements, protects the OPPA’s operational interests, and offers staff terms and conditions of employment that value their contributions to the board and its membership.

The contract includes improved postretirement benefits at no cost to employees, provided they meet the applicable criteria and salary adjustments that will continue to be equal to across-the-board increases applicable to OPPA civilian members.

“The membership was very supportive of the work of their bargaining committee and let us know they appreciated the results we achieved for them,” says J. D. Alkema, regional director of the union’s Mississauga Member Centre.

“Negotiations were really healthy and indicative of a desire on the part of both parties to reach solutions based on mutual success. The process was very professional and respectful.”
