The Town of Penetanguishene is considering a pilot program that would permit all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) or off-road vehicles (ORV) on municipal roads.

Council invites the public to attend an open house to learn more about the potential pilot program and share your comments prior to a final decision by council in the Summer of 2024.

  • Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Description of pilot program

Currently, in the Town of Penetanguishene, ATVs/ORVs are not permitted on any local roads, or on trails. Council is considering a one-year pilot program whereby ATVs/ORVs would be permitted on all municipal roads. Further, the operation of the ATV/ORV would be required to comply with the Highway Traffic Act and the Off-Road Vehicles Act with respect to safe operation of the vehicle, safety equipment, speed, etc.
