It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Captain Barry Phillip Assance Sr. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family in his 72nd year.
Loving husband of Yvonne Marie Assance (Predeceased). Beloved Father (Pops) to Alan, Jaime, Barry Jr., Rob (Karen) and Jerry (Rachel). Cherished Papa to Bradley, Harmony, Jaden, Mckaylee, Layton, Hayley, William, Kya, Chayla, Jacoby, Noah and Jordyn, Matthew, Robyn, Aaric, Avery, Ashley, Kayla, Melina and 11 Great-grandchildren. Father-in-law to Hollie, Tanya, Tiffany, Amber and Kim. Cherished Uncle to Mindy, Nina and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Frederick and Vivian Assance, Berdette, Deldin and Delda. Loving brother to April, Marsha, Rachel, Clinton, Terry, Roderick and Farin. Will be remembered with love by his in laws, Rick (Shelley), Irene, Marylou (Duncan), Betty (Joe) and Dana.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Georgian Bay General Dialysis Unit, Beausoleil Family Health Centre and a sincere and special thank you to Laura King, who provided excellent care and friendship through their travels to dialysis.
Barry will be dearly missed by many extended family, friends and community.
The family will receive friends at the Christian Island United Church on Wednesday, May 1 from 12:30 pm and on, and again at 7:00 p.m. and on. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow.
