All Township of Tiny offices remain closed to the public. Municipal staff are operating under a remote work protocol and services have been reduced to only those that have been deemed essential.

The following is the current service levels for permits and inspections conducted by the Sewage System Department until further notice:

Sewage System Permit Applications: Reduction in Level of Service

  • As of April 4, 2020, Sewage System Permits will no longer be issued unless defined as an essential workplace in accordance with Ontario Regulation 119/20 under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act
  • Please note that Sewage System Permits are still required for buildings as defined in the Building Code Act during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Sewage System Permit applications will be accepted and processed through the municipal office drop-box or by mail. In order to process an application, it must be deemed complete. To ensure completion please follow the requirements on the application. Applications can be found on our website at www.tiny.ca/SewageApplications
  • Once a Sewage System Permit application is received, Staff will review and respond by email in regards to the outstanding items if applicable. Please provide an email on your application form if you have one.
  • Email communication is preferred; however, phone calls and voicemails will continue to be received and responded to.

Payments for Sewage System Permits: Reduction in Level of Service

  • Payment for sewage system permit fees will be accepted by cheque only (payable to the Township of Tiny). Payment should accompany the application when it is placed in the municipal office drop-box or submitted by mail. Sewage

System Inspections: Reduction in Level of Service

  • At this time, limited sewage system inspections will be conducted by our Inspectors.
  • As of April 4, 2020, Sewage System inspections will only be occurring for those projects identified in the current Provincial List of Construction Projects.
  • We will attend to any Unsafe Building occurrences or similar urgent matters.
  • Sewage System Department Staff are only able to complete an inspection if no other person is on site during the time of inspection. If an Inspector arrives on site and it appears that someone else is present, they will not proceed. Consideration will also be given to sites where everyone remains inside the dwelling when the inspection is conducted outside. Individual Inspectors may have additional safety requirements. If unsure, we will review individual situations to determine if you are eligible for inspection.
  • Covering of construction that requires an inspection as defined under the Building Code Act without the permission of the Sewage System Inspector may require the uncovering of work.
  • If you would like to book a Sewage System Inspection, please phone the Sewage System Department at 705-527-0119 and leave a message. The messages are checked on a regular basis.

All procedures put in place have been done so to limit unnecessary risk to staff and our residents. As this situation is continually evolving, we will continue to monitor our processes and notification will be provided on any change to the above-noted temporary service levels.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during these challenging circumstances.
