If Premier Doug Ford’s announcement of a $200 “rebate” to Ontarians sounds familiar, that’s because it is exactly what Mike Harris did right before an election.
Conservatives think votes can be bought, and cheaply at that. $200 won’t pay your rent, nor cover increased costs as the Ford government cuts services to make up for huge losses in government revenue from these give-aways and other frivolous spending.
Is it coincidence that this announcement came the same day as the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled against the Ford government in the climate case brought by seven youths represented by Ecojusice? The ruling means Ford will have to answer for his lack of gas emission targets to deal with climate change.
Funny, too, that his rebate could be misconstrued as the same as the Federal government’s carbon tax rebate.
Signed, not fooled not bought.
