Dear Editor,
I'm going to keep this brief. I simply wished to point out my observation that Midland seems to have a new season.
The 'silly season' preceding an election, in this case for town council. It seems to me that on social media, to the point of infecting regular media as well, municipal campaigning has started well over six months before the next town election.
I see this an example of populism at the municipal level. Knee-jerk, over-simplified reactions to complex issues, which do more harm than good.
I hope the majority of Midlanders do not get bamboozled by the politicians taking this low road.
