The following letter was submitted in response to an article titled PM Trudeau is ‘an extremist,’ according to Pierre Poilievre, published on August 3.
I was totally disgusted by Judy Lamothe's interview with the next Prime Minister, Pierre Poilievre.
With so many serious issues facing the country that your readers could benefit from learning more about, Ms Lamothe instead chose to focus her 5 minutes on a bit of pointless gotcha "journalism." Not once did she touch on any of the issues that Canadians have consistently said they care about. Not a word about the hugely unpopular carbon tax. No mention of the made in Canada housing crisis, inflation, affordability or massive immigration. Not a word about skyrocketing crime rates or the widely held belief that Canada is broken. She instead repeatedly attempted to back Mr Poilievre into a corner to score points for her team in a highly biased bit of "reporting."
I used to believe that Village Media was above this sort of pettiness and I have completely lost respect for the organization. It goes to demonstrate that when news outlets accept funding from government, balanced reporting goes out the window.
