The following letter is in response to a news release from Simcoe North MPP Jill Dunlop, published Jan. 9.
In regards to Jill Dunlop blowing on about the massive amount to be spent for home renovations: The conservatives are trotting out their usual whining about a long-past government causing energy costs to rise. Really — seven years of Ford’s government and they are still blaming someone else for the current problems?
Seven years ago was long before COVID-19, increased housing costs, most of which happened on the conservative watch, global fuel price increases (not just Canada), global recessions, etc.
The fact remains that they have cut income to the government (think of licence plate fees) and consequently cut money paid to health workers, teachers and others that keep the wheels of the province turning. It is entirely irksome that this sudden generosity will segue directly into an election cycle.
