MidlandToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via the website. Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letter is in response to an article about the province stopping wastewater surveillance for COVID-19, published June 25.

I came across this article shortly after listening to an interview with Dr. Wolfgang Wodgarg.

He happened to question the science behind the wastewater surveillance for infectious disease mainly because we cannot discern if the “contribution” into the mix came from human, cat, dog, raccoon, any other animal, or even a bat.

Subjecting samples to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing adds yet another variable.

Money wasted, in my opinion.
