NEWS RELEASE
GEORGIAN BAY CANCER SUPPORT CENTRE
*************************
Art for Hope is an opportunity for people to learn about and celebrate two great community organizations: Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre (GBCSC) and Quest Art. It takes place on Friday, May 27 at the Midland Cultural Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m.
This fun-filled evening in support of a great cause features a range of art up for grabs by several notable Canadian artists including the Group of Seven’s A.J. Casson, Stephen Haigh, Norman Knott, and Gerald Sevier. Along with the art, the silent auction will offer a range of other great items.
Throughout the event, attendees can also make art themselves at creative stations set up by Quest Art. Plus, everyone will enjoy musical entertainment from Ariko, great food, and much more. CTV Barrie’s Jayne Pritchard will act as host and MC for the evening.
This new art-themed event came about after the GBCSC received several artworks from two donors in late 2021. The centre then reached out to Quest Art about working together on a new fundraising event.
The evening will feature information about the GBCSC. Those attending will have an opportunity to hear stories from those who have benefited from the centre’s programs, which serve cancer patients, their families, and caregivers throughout North Simcoe. It’s Ontario’s first rural cancer support centre and the only such organization in North Simcoe and Southern Georgian Bay.
The demand for GBCSC’s support services (such as one-on-one counselling, wig fittings, exercise programs) continues to grow. Additional funding for member programs is more crucial than ever.
Tickets to attend Art for Hope are $50 (plus applicable taxes and ticket surcharges) and available at the Midland Cultural Centre or online at www.midlandculturalcentre.com/events. Tickets will be available at the door for $60.
A special thanks to event sponsor William Myles Real Estate Team.
