CLH Foundation Bonspiel Bonanza surpasses fundraising goal

Event at Midland Curling Club raises more than $12,000 for organization's Commitment to Care initiative

This weekend's Bonspiel Bonanza at the Midland Curling Club raised just over $12,000 for CLH Foundation’s Commitment to Care initiative, surpassing organizers' original $10,000 goal.

CLH Foundation revenue development director Sue-Ellen Boyes thanked those who helped make the third annual event a success.

"This is all because of you – you are generous sponsors, donors, auction bidders, curlers and volunteers," she wrote in an email to those involved with the event.

"You also were very kind in your food donations to our 'Great Pantry Re-Stock', and we greatly appreciate that additional support."

Besides raising vital funds, the fun day of curling Saturday that featured 20 teams also helped build awareness of the essential work of CLH Developmental Support Services (CLH DSS).

The north Simcoe organization has served people with developmental disabilities for more than 60 years.

CLH Foundation’s Commitment to Care initiative fully underwrites the costs of essential and critically needed (but unfunded) medical and personal expenses for adults who live in CLH Supported Living Homes.

CLH DSS is unique in its long-time practice of covering these costs on behalf of supported individuals, and in the face of ever-rising prices and changes in funding, CLH Foundation has taken responsibility for ensuring this continues.

“Unequivocal access to what’s needed to remain in good health, both mentally and physically, is the best form of preventative care,” the organization noted.
