The north Simcoe region has changed a great deal over the past decades.

Well, now the Culture Alliance in the Heart of Georgian Bay and one of its subcommittee will host screenings of its ‘Do you remember when?’ series, which features interviews with some of the area’s senior residents.

“Everyone has a story, and it’s important to capture these stories before they’re lost,” says Culture Alliance cultural development coordinator Alanna Brousseau.

“We are excited to invite everyone to join us in celebrating these remarkable individuals and their memories.”

The video project features local seniors recounting their experiences growing up in the area.

Funded in part by the federal New Horizons for Seniors Program, the latest instalment of the series continues its tradition of bringing to life the stories of seniors living in Midland, Penetanguishene, Tiny and Tay.

Through their candid reflections, these storytellers provide “invaluable insights into the history and culture of our communities.”

The first screening goes Jan. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum and will feature interviews with residents of Penetanguishene and Tiny.

The second screening that features talks by Midland and Tay residents is slated for Feb. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huronia Museum.

These screenings are free to attend and all are welcome.

Seating is limited, however, so registration is recommended. To register for one, or both, screenings, click here or email  [email protected].
