  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake

Current details:
Lake effect snow squalls tonight and Tuesday.

Hazards:
Locally heavy snowfall with total accumulations of 20 to 30 cm.
Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour.
Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

Timing:
Continuing through Tuesday.

Discussion:
Snow squalls will continue tonight and Tuesday. Westerly winds gusting to 50 km/h may result in local blowing snow, predominantly for exposed areas near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. A change in wind direction will shift the lake effect snow into areas southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay Tuesday night.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
