Huge Canada Day party and parade at Little Lake (15 photos)

'I am proud to be a part of such a welcoming and unique country,' said Magic Juggler, who wowed those in attendance Monday

The Canada Day festival was not so little at Little Lake this year as Canadians celebrated their heritage by part-eh-ing and parading.

The day started out with a red-and-white parade that led locals down towards the lake where festivities lined the lakeshore, inviting locals to enjoy their favourite Canada Day snacks like corndogs, cotton candy, and maple syrup while shopping with local vendors.

“My favourite part was the parade and saying happy Canada Day to everyone,” said Jane Heo with her mother, CareyAnn Mayer, and brother, Yoon Heo. “Being kind to other people and being friends with everyone.”

Bouncy castles, games, and mountainous inflatable slides towered along the shore, daring anyone brave enough to climb their way up and slide down the Canadian rockies.

The summer sun didn’t stop these folks from enjoying their favourite hometown sports such as hockey, curling, paintball, and more.

“It’s great for the kids and family. There’s so much to do,” said Joe Boni. “My grandson Nick loves the hockey games.”

Live music played from artists such as Deja Vu, Renaissance Band, Dylan Lock, Bustin Loose, and Dance Factor before the Midland Rotary drew winners for the draw tickets.

Entertainers varying from hula hooping, lumberjack shows, and circus performances had locals cheering, laughing, and dancing until the sun made them almost as red as their shirts.

“I love seeing all the people of Midland and Penetanguishene,” said Magic Juggler Johnny Toronto. “I am proud to be a part of such a welcoming and unique country.”
