Is it spring yet? Some of the animals at Ralphy's Retreat Animal Sanctuary in Waverley are not fond of the cold.

Hoping to stir up some Valentine’s Day love for its residents, a local animal sanctuary is teaming up with a Midland business.

On February 9, Royal Tea on King will host Valenswine’s Afternoon Tea with all proceeds going to Ralphy’s Retreat animal sanctuary for the care and maintenance of its beloved residents.

Locals are invited to show their love for the Waverley-based Ralphy’s with what organizers are promising will be a fun-filled afternoon of laughter, love, delicious teas, vegan sweets, amazing door prizes and store discounts.

Ralphy's, a registered non-profit organization, is celebrating its third anniversary in Simcoe County. It is managed by a board of directors and run 100 per cent by volunteers.

There are currently more than 80 pigs in the sanctuary of 120 animals, that also include a pony, a donkey, cows, alpacas, goats, chickens, turkeys, rabbits and barn cats.

Those attending the Royal Tea event are encouraged to dress in red and pink and “anything piggy themed.

Tickets are $55 each and include vegan finger sandwiches, mini quiches, scones, sweets and a loose-leaf pot of tea. Gluten-wise options are also available but must be stated at the time of ticket purchase (also please advise of any allergies).
