The Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre (GBCSC) is getting into the festive spirit this Saturday, November 30 during its third annual Hope for the Holidays Winter Market. The event, happening from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the GBCSC at 45 Edward Street in Penetanguishene, will feature 18 local vendors selling a variety of great gift items. Plus, Santa will make a visit and young and old can get a photo taken with him.

Many of the items available this year include wool works, Christmas décor, jewelry, stained glass, woodworks, children’s books, and unique shadow boxes.

Several items for sale are made by crafters and artisans who are also GBCSC members. As always, special one-of-a-kind seasonal greeting cards will be available made by the Centre’s popular Card Making program. The weekly Knitting with Friends program will have a variety of knit items for sale. All proceeds from member-made items sold will support GBCSC programs.

For those people who you have no idea what to buy them, you can get them a Gift of Hope at the Market. Make a donation to the GBCSC and a card will be sent to them noting the donation. Donations can be made on behalf of someone or in memory of a loved one who has passed away. A heart ornament with their name noted will be place on the Centre’s Tree of Hope.

Karen Ryan, one of the lead event member volunteers, says it’s a fun event to be involved in and it’s personal for her.

“The Centre is close to my heart as it has supported myself and my family in so many ways over the years. Helping out on this event is one way for me to give back.“

Everyone attending the Hope for the Holiday Winter Market can also enjoy some great festive treats and for $2 can enjoy a delicious mug of hot chocolate in a mug of your choice that you can take home. There will also be some amazing raffle draw items available including a special handmade quilt and pillow by Barb Carswell.
