The Town of Penetanguishene is thrilled to announce Lorraine Moreau as the recipient of this year’s Senior of the Year Award.

“Lorraine Moreau is a remarkable volunteer in our town, known for her contributions to organizations such as the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre, Hospice Huronia and the Penetanguishene Museum & Archives,” the town notes in a release.

“Lorraine is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether they are friends, family, or strangers. Her kindness and generosity know no bounds.”

One shining example of Moreau’s selflessness was her immediate support at a fundraiser for those affected by the collapse of buildings on Main Street last fall.

“She was one of the first volunteers on the scene, offering her assistance for the entire duration of the event,” the town notes. “Her warmth, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond truly set her apart.”

Moreau received the prestigious award given to a senior who exemplified outstanding dedication and community service during a recent seniors’ information day with further recognition from members of council at their meeting Wednesday.

“The town extends a heartfelt congratulations to Lorraine Moreau for this well-deserved honour. We invite all residents to join us in celebrating Lorraine's dedication and contributions to our community.”
