On Saturday, May 21, two new specialty retail shops will hold their grand openings in the charming village of Coldwater: Puzzles and Pastimes Hobby Shop and the Cottage Dog Pet Shop.
A ribbon cutting got things underway at 11 a.m., and both stores offered special discounts that day.
Coldwater is known for its vibrant downtown and events such as the Duck Race and the Steampunk Festival, and variety of one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants.
Located between Orillia and Midland on Highway 12, this community has become a popular destination for area residents, as well as day-trippers and vacationers.
Puzzles and Pastimes Hobby Shop, located at 18 Coldwater Rd., has over 400 puzzles to choose from, as well as car, airplane, military, ship, and specialty model kits and supplies for the model enthusiast. This shop also offers arts and craft supplies for every age and skill level.
“During the pandemic, my wife and I both realized how relaxing and grounding a hobby could be. As longtime Coldwater residents, we thought a local hobby shop would be welcomed and since opening in March the response has been overwhelmingly positive and supportive,” said Mark Missen, owner.
The Cottage Dog Pet Shop, located at 22 Coldwater Rd., is a lifelong dream for owners Michael and Karen McLeod. They look forward to locally providing dog and cat supplies for their community.
