Huronia Transition Homes (HTH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Rowan as its new board chair.

Kim brings to the board a tremendous amount of experience and expertise in organizational strategy and culture that will be invaluable as HTH continues to advance its work to end all violence against all women.

Kim is a certified executive human resources leader with more than two decades of global experience leading high-performing human resources teams. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong understanding of the important role that organizational culture plays in driving performance, employee engagement, and business success. Kim’s diverse industry experience spans clinical research, engineering, legal and consumer packaged goods sectors. This broad background uniquely positions her to bring fresh perspectives and strategic insight to HTH.

As board chair, Kim is committed to strengthening the organization’s strategic vision and ensuring HTH remains well positioned to meet the evolving needs of women and children across Simcoe County who have survived violence. With a focus on fostering connection, engagement, and empowerment, Kim will work with the board to ensure effective governance for HTH.

“I am deeply honoured to step into this leadership role at such a crucial time,” said Kim Rowan. “The impact of violence against women is profound and far reaching. Huronia Transition Homes plays an essential role in not only providing immediate shelter and safety but also in offering long-term support to help women and children heal, regain their independence, and rebuild their lives.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Kim as our new board chair,” said Haily MacDonald, executive director at HTH. “Our organization has experienced a lot of dynamic growth and having Kim in this position reflects both the position of the organization and where we want to go.”

Violence against women remains a persistent and devastating issue in communities across the province. In 2024, 53 women and nine children in Ontario lost their lives due to femicide, and every six days a woman or girl is killed in Canada. Kim Rowan’s appointment is a key moment for HTH as it continues to navigate the complexities of providing support to women and children affected by violence.
