Angela Garcia and Kris Roop hope local families visit them soon.
The wife and husband team recently opened Lets Play, an indoor playground located in the Mountain View Plaza.
“We saw the need for something for younger children to do. They can find new friends and socialize,” Garcia tells MidlandToday.
“At the beginning, we were looking to open a daycare, but it took a different direction.”
The 3,400 square-foot facility used to be an indoor playground, but Garcia said they’ve really fine-tuned things and created a space to specifically cater to children aged six months to 10 years old. There’s also a soft-play area that’s specially designed for infants and toddlers.
“We have two play structures with one being for two years and under,” Garcia explains, noting there are also open rooms for pretend play and art play with another dedicated to those in the crawling stages.
The warm and welcoming facility also offers “drop and go” services for parents who’d like a break from their little ones. As well, on Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., kids can come for some fun play without their parents.
The couple, who have extensive experience working with children, moved to the area from Newmarket six years ago.
“It’s a beautiful place,” Garcia says. “We love the fact that we can enjoy the lake.”
Garcia and Roop are helped in running their new operation by their children Christopher, 16, Ariyanna, 12 and three-year-old Silas.
“They’re very excited and they really enjoy coming in and helping out sometimes," says Garcia.
Since opening in August, Garcia says they welcomed a lot of children prior to school starting up again.
The cost to enjoy the facility is $14.50 for the whole day with parents charged $8.50 for children under two years of age.
Garcia adds: “They (the kids) are very excited to see the place when they first come in.”
