While many in north Simcoe have been regularly hearing a helicopter travelling over their heads the past few days, it's nothing to be concerned about, according to authorities.

Some area residents have speculated that, perhaps, a sledder had fallen through Georgian Bay ice and the Canadian Coast Guard helicopter was performing a search-and-rescue operation as it seemed to regularly cover the Giant's Tomb/Sawlog Bay area after departing from Huronia Regional Airport.

But Southern Georgian Bay OPP Const. David Hobson said the Coast Guard is simply conducting "navigational asset maintenance."
