A four-legged star is born.
Triple, a four-year-old border collie from Bradford, was recently selected from more than 40,000 entries to be featured in Pet Valu’s 2024 Companions for Change fundraising calendar. He’ll appear jumping into a pool on the August page.
“I decided to submit this photo to the … contest because I think it is a great photo of Triple doing what he loves, and also thought it would be a nice addition to a calendar,” Triple’s ‘pet parent’ Kristina Wilkinson said. “Knowing the number of entries they were expecting, I didn’t really think it would get chosen. I’m so happy everyone will have a picture of Triple hanging on their wall in August.”
Triple enjoys swimming, paddleboarding and agility training, she said.
Earning a spot was a highly competitive process this year that involved multiple selection rounds and the top 100 finalists entering a public vote. The calendar also has photographs of 16 Canadian pets including dogs, cats, a Kunekune piglet, guinea pigs and a hedgehog.
All proceeds support Canadian animal rescues and charities. It is available for a give-what-you-can donation at every Pet Valu store across Canada, excluding Quebec.
“The calendar is extremely popular with devoted pet lovers and each year their generous donations help us provide impactful funding support for Canadian animal organizations doing vital work to help animals in need,” Pet Valu marketing manager Alison Preiss said.
Companions for Change has raised more than $26 million since 2010.
