Penetangishene is reminding residents and business owners to ensure the placement of their garbage and recycling containers don’t interfere with snow-clearing operations.

“During the winter season, the main objective of the snow clearing and removal operations is to clear the snow quickly from the streets,” roads supervisor Tyler Haourt said in a release.

“This critical service can be significantly hampered by the placement of garbage and recycling containers within the roadway or along the edge of the road.”

In an effort to maintain the safety and efficiency of these operations, the town is asking homeowners and businesses to place their garbage/recycling/compost containers away from the roads and keep them inside of the driveways. To that end, the town notes that Simcoe County Waste Management truck arms can reach up to seven feet.
