A Georgian Bay community is inviting local residents to reconnect after two long pandemic years and a major construction project.
The Reconnect Port Severn Festival goes Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to celebrate the reopening of Port Severn’s Lock 45 bridge.
Over the past three years, Parks Canada has been busy rebuilding the bridge and dam at Lock 45, which is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway. The construction project caused the town to be separated into two halves so the festival serves to reconnect everybody, according to Southeast Georgian Bay (SEGBAY) Chamber of Commerce board member Peter Olmstead.
There will be a vendor’s market, food, children’s entertainment and a performance by Dylan Lock with things kicking off as Severn Mayor Mike Burkett and Township of Georgian Bay Mayor Peter Koetsier cut the official ribbon to reopen the bridge.
