Poutine Feast draws crowd — including bachelorette party — to Midland

'Poutine is my favourite food,' says bride-to-be; event continues Sunday at Harbourside Park

Poutine Feast is putting a smile on guests’ faces at Harbourside Park in Midland this weekend.

Everyone’s poutine dreams were fuller than their stomachs this year as many came with friends and family to share and get the most out of their gravy and curds.

“Poutine is a guilty pleasure of mine,” Elissa Crivaro said Saturday. “We were here yesterday and there’s so many choices that we came back for more.”

It’s hard to pick a favourite with options ranging from pulled pork to pickled from Fat Les’s Chip Stand, Smoking Carnivore, Tragically Chip, and Groovy Gravy. After all that cheesy goodness, people lined up to satisfy their sweet tooths with lemonade, treats, and doughnuts served by Miss Ellie’s Lemonade, Trins Treats, Mrs. Mini Donuts, and Heavenly Dreams Ice Cream Truck.

“Poutine is my favourite thing to eat ever since I tried it in Montreal,” said local resident Eileen Steele. “I always have curds in my house. I eat it every week.”

The event even drew in a local bachelorette party to get bride-to-be Jessica Ryerse her favourite food and complete a poutine scavenger hunt.

“It was a surprise to come here, and very fitting,” said Ryerse. “Poutine is my favourite food.”

Guests also got to shop local vendors, get their faces painted, and spend the afternoon in the park.

Poutine Feast continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
