For more than 25 years, Quest Art School + Gallery has made a difference to many lives and the community as a whole.
In recognition of its important role as a creative cultural hub in North Simcoe, the Midland-based art school and gallery is holding introductory sessions for three new committees Saturday.
Quest Art provides participatory arts activities for all ages and serves Midland, Tiny, Tay and Penetanguishene as the central visual arts hub of this area. In providing activities for all age groups there are a number of benefits that extend beyond opportunities to increase creativity.

- Quest for Fun – Introductory Session September 10th at 3pm
In a release, Quest outlined its important role in the community.
"Did you know that young adults who had intensive arts experiences in high school are more likely to show civic-minded behaviour than young adults who did not, with comparatively high levels of volunteering, voting and engagement with local or school politics? Evidence from a wide range of school- and community-based arts programs suggests that arts exposure can be instrumental in resolving conflicts, deterring problems with attendance and disruptive behavior, and building self-respect, self-efficacy, resilience, empathy, collaborative skills, and other characteristics and capacities that are linked to high student achievement.
"Likewise, there is substantial evidence that participatory arts activities help to maintain the health and quality of life of older adults. Seniors face challenges which include deteriorating health, social isolation, loss of loved ones, and life transitions. Fortunately, research shows that arts-related interventions can help (in some cases, more so than traditional Western medicine). In particular, visual arts practice generates an increase in social engagement, psychological health and self-esteem in seniors."
According to Quest, its volunteers and members are an integral part of its work and it would like your help to ensure we continue to have a strong network of support.
"Join Quest for Fun as we develop ways to engage with the community through our community partners, invite people to participate in the wide array of events at Quest Art, as well as acknowledge the amazing work our community does to keep Quest Art going. If you believe that our community is stronger together, join us to bring people together through the arts!"
Quest is located at 333 King Street and is fully accessible.
