Quest hosting 'unique pay and carry' unclaimed artwork sale

'Perfect opportunity to snag original art at unbeatable prices.' As well, MCC Gallery of Indigenous Art kicks off new exhibition Thursday evening

Ever wanted to feature some original and inspiring art for your walls, but weren’t sure if you could afford it.

Well, Quest Art School + Gallery might have the answer.

The Midland-based entity kicks off its first-ever “pay and carry” unclaimed artwork sale Friday and runs until next Saturday (Oct. 19).

“This exciting event offers incredible savings on unique, one-of-a-kind pieces,” explained Quest volunteer communications consultant Stephanie Rumball.

“Prices will range from $20 to $80, with larger pieces priced higher. Whether you’re an established collector or just looking to add artistic flair to your space, this event is the perfect opportunity to snag original art at unbeatable prices.”

Located at the Midland Cultural Centre, Quest is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an opening reception for the sale slated from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The event also coincides with the opening of Quest's newest members' exhibition: Black & White + 1 Colour.

As well, the MCC’s Gallery of Indigenous Art is featuring a new exhibition that opens Thursday evening. Entitled 'Then and Now: The Inspiration of Métis Decorative Arts, from the Collection of Scott Carpenter', the exhibit runs until Jan. 4.

“It is a great looking exhibition which starts with early nineteenth-century pieces and ends with a wonderful painting by the acclaimed, contemporary Métis artist Christi Belcourt,” said local artist John Hartman, who’s involved with the gallery.

According to a release, Then and Now focuses on the decorative arts of the Métis including artifacts from the past and contemporary times demonstrating the role they have played and continue to play in Métis culture and history.

“This exhibition includes traditional clothing, artwork, and other cultural items.”
