The Royal Canadian Air Force will celebrate its 100th anniversary at Blue Mountain.
At its meeting on Feb. 20, The Blue Mountains council heard about plans for the Air Force’s 100th anniversary dinner, which will be held at Blue Mountain on April 2 and include a fly-past.
Dillon Fremlin, director of emergency services and risk at Blue Mountain, made a presentation to council about the event. Fremlin said Blue Mountain will host 500 Air Force members and their families at the dinner. He said between 5 and 6 p.m., three CF 18 Hornets flying out of Cold Lake, Alberta will do a flyover during the event.
Fremlin has been working with the Air Force to set up the event and wanted to inform the town of the plans to ensure the public is notified of the fly-past.
Members of council expressed support for the event and unanimously passed a resolution that was supportive of the event.
“It’s a great tribute,” said Deputy Mayor Peter Bordignon.
