Residents and visitors are invited to bundle up and step outside to experience the magic of the holiday season by visiting Midland’s first-ever holiday display at Little Lake Park.
Complete with a vintage sleigh, a life-sized Santa Claus, lights and greenery, this holiday scene is sure to warm the hearts of the young and the young at heart.
“Town Parks staff have outdone themselves once again by creating this outstanding holiday display at the Little Lake Park pavilion,” Midland Mayor Bill Gordon said, noting it’s an ideal locale for taking holiday photos.
“With magnificent Little Lake as a backdrop, this festive scene showcases the many beautiful spots to visit in Midland.”
While there is little known about the origins of this vintage sleigh, staff understand that it was built in the 1800’s by a family in the Hamilton area that owned a milling operation.
“This truly was a team effort to bring this display to life,” said town operations director Dylan Flannery.
“As the idea to curate this project began to grow, operations staff enlisted the help of town procurement staff to conduct a search for a unique centrepiece. Not only did they find the perfect sleigh, but staff also drove six hours and back on their personal time to bring it back to Midland.”
The holiday display is located at the Little Lake Park pavilion nearest to the Little Lake Park beach area and is visible from the road for those with accessibility limitations. It will be on display until January 8th.
