It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that we announce the sudden passing of Bob. A beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend, Bob departed from us unexpectedly and far too soon, on February 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Born to Gary and Gail Downer of Midland ON, Bob’s sense of humor made everyone around him laugh. One of his greatest joys was spending time on the tranquil waters of Georgian Bay (especially Sans Souci), where he found peace and solace in fishing. This passion for the great outdoors was a testament to his love of nature and the simple joys of life. In his earlier years, he made many friends on the baseball field, where he spent much time. He was a gifted athlete who is enshrined in the Midland Sports Hall of Fame in the team category.
Bob was a devoted father to his twins, Nick and Melissa, and his grandchildren Oceana and Bennett. His love for his children and family was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with family.
He is survived by his loving mother, Gail Downer, and his brothers, Billy (Claude) and Brent (Sandy), who will forever hold dear the memories of their time together. He was a loving uncle to Owen and Braedan. He will be greatly missed by his beloved buddy, his dog Ace.
Bob will be remembered for his laughter, generosity and his unwavering love for those he held dear. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He gave to all and was selfless at all times.
Bob was predeceased by his father, Gary Downer, with whom he is now reunited.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held in the summer of 2025, details to follow.
