Peacefully, at Campbell House Hospice, in Collingwood, Joseph Edward Sauve, aged 90 years, passed away on Friday January 8th, 2021, after a short battle with cancer. Survived by siblings Sister Grace CSJ, and Jim(Maureen). Pre-deceased by his parents, Lloyd and Kay, siblings Mary, Patti, Bobby, Donnie, Carole, Tony, Paul, and Bernie. He will be sorely missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and multitude of friends he has touched along the way.
When Joe and his brothers gathered over holidays and events at the family cottage in Balm Beach, the banter between them was always entertaining and something to remember.
Joe was a successful business executive working in the Oil, Gas, and Transportation Industries up to his retirement, when he settled in the Collingwood area. Family fondly remember visits to Uncle Joe’s where all were welcome.
Joe was the ever-present host, opening up his home to many gatherings including annual Grey Cup parties, Wednesday Night Pool at Sleepy Hollow, and Wednesday Night Guys Night at the Waterside Condo. A staff of volunteer cooks kept all of the visitors well fed and he always had a bottle of red available to share, or to meet his daily quota of 1 bottle, which seemed inexhaustible. Many Thanks to all of his Collingwood friends who were always there for him.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Campbell House for the amazing and compassionate care received by Joe during his final weeks. We are forever indebted that a place such as this was available for Joe to pass in comfort and with dignity.
We welcome donations to Hospice Georgian Triangle, Campbell House in memory of Joe, so that they are able to continue their work in supporting end of life care to families in the area.
Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, a Celebration of Life for Joe will take place at a later date when it is safe to do so.
