March 29, 1921 ~ January 5, 2021 (age 99)
Margaret Turnbull died of natural causes on January 5, 2021, only a few months short of her 100th birthday. Her husband, Harvey, died in 1990. She is survived by children Sharon Zannier (Dario) Hampton, PEI; James Turnbull (Linda) Combermere, ON; Laurel Chivers (Ted) Victoria Harbour, ON; grandchildren Ian, Jahleen, Robyn; and great granddaughter, Rae Margaret.
Born in Kitchener, Ontario to Burton and Minnie Hofstetter, she was the youngest of four children. Margaret’s life’s journey took her to Toronto; the Madawaska Valley region; Tortola, BVI; San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; Peterborough; Markham; Midland and finally, Orillia. Margaret and Harvey were both ‘free spirits’ and accomplished artists. When not on one of the numerous travels of world discovery with Harvey, she kept busy creating high end crafts, painting in watercolours and creating unique garments of wearable art and for everyday use. Her talents also extended to the kitchen, and her life-long passion of healthy eating.
Following the sale of her Barrys Bay home in 2011, Margaret lived in two Independent Living facilities before relocating to Trillium Manor in Orillia in late 2018. The staff at Trillium provided her with professional and compassionate care, ensuring her last two years were safe and comfortable. Her kind friend, Vern, was also a contributor to her happiness, for which the family is most appreciative. Final arrangements have been made with the assistance of LeClair Cremation Centre. There will be no formal funeral.
Forever in our memories, she was “a dear girl”
