Rodney E. S. Walker passed away peacefully, at the age of 73 years, at Hospice Huronia, Tomkins House in Penetang, Ont. on February 24, 2025 after an eight year battle with prostate cancer. Beloved husband of Susan, loving father of Cameron (Melanie) and Andrew (Mya). Fondly remembered by his extended family, friends and neighbours.
Rod was a teacher and vice-principal with the Simcoe County School Board for many years, and was in his element teaching and coaching at a number of secondary schools in the county.
He was an avid skier, and enjoyed many ski holidays at resorts in BC. He liked to push his limits, and recently tried bungee jumping at Whistler, BC and skydiving with his sons.
Many months a year were enjoyed at the cottage, which he built himself, in Northern Ontario. Fishing, canoeing, water skiing, and sailing to name a few of his favourite sports.
He was a skilled carpenter, builder, handyman, and helped out many people at his cherished retreat.
A family gathering will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and Hospice Huronia would be appreciated by the family.
