Area woman accused of defrauding Community Living Association

An Essa woman has been accused of defrauding the Community Living Association for South Simcoe (CLASS) of more than $122,000.

On Feb. 6, 2024, at about 6 p.m., police were contacted about a fraud incident at CLASS at 233 Church St. S. in Alliston. The complainant believed an employee had been using a company credit card for personal purchases.

Police determined $122,162.15 had been spent on the company credit card between November 2023 and February 2024, Nottawasaga OPP said in a news release.

Following a year-long investigation, Jessica O’Brien, 38, was arrested Feb. 27 and charged with fraud over $5,000 and permit — use of credit card data. She has been released from custody and has an April 3 court date in Bradford.
