Investigators from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP have identified the people involved in Friday's incident near downtown Midland.
The incident started at about 2:30 Friday afternoon when a man was observed carrying a firearm in downtown Midland.
That led to a heavy police presence around an apartment complex on William Street where two suspects had barricaded themselves in the apartment unit. The standoff ended at about 11 p.m. when officers executed a search warrant at the apartment complex.
According to a media release, officers were able to locate and seize a quantity of opioids, cocaine and psilocybin along with several airsoft rifles, ammunition, a machete, Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia.
Dale Lewis, 45, of Midland is facing the following charges:
- Pointing a firearm'
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose;
- Carrying concealed weapon;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm; and
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin)
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine
- CDSA 5(2) Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
Also charged criminally in connection to this investigation is Midland's Sonya Fisher, 40. She was charged with:
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin)
- Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
Both were held for bail hearings and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date, police say.
