Man charged after thefts from unlocked vehicles in Penetanguishene

A Tiny Township man has been arrested in connection with thefts from vehicles in Penetanguishene.

Around noon Monday, a resident on Brock Street reported a wallet containing credit cards and other items was taken from an unlocked vehicle overnight. The credit card companies informed the resident of numerous uses of the card at local retail stores.

On Monday morning, the owner of an unlocked vehicle parked in a Dufferin Street parking lot reported the theft of personal property after the victim was notified by financial institutions of credit card charges.

The suspect was arrested on Main Street in Penetanguishene shortly before 1 p.m. Monday.

Adrian Daniel Lemay, 56, has been charged with theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle (two counts), use of a credit card (three counts), failure to comply with a probation order (three counts) and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was held in custody.
