Midland man charged with careless driving in serious 2-vehicle crash

According to police, witnesses say one vehicle was travelling at 'approximately 130 km/h' when it went airborne

Multiple injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash that took place in Bradford Sunday evening.

On Aug. 18 at around 7 p.m., emergency crews were called to a motor-vehicle collision near the intersection of Line 8 and Highway 27 in the west end of Bradford. According to South Simcoe police, the first vehicle was located on the south side of Line 8, with severe damage to the front left corner and left side. The driver was trapped inside and required extrication. The second vehicle was found on the north side of Line 9, with severe damage to the front.

“Witnesses on scene advised that vehicle 2 was westbound on Line 8, approaching the intersection,” police spokesperson Isabella Soligo said in an email. “Vehicle 1 was eastbound on Line 8, travelling at approximately 130 km/h and when he went through the intersection, went airborne, then collided with vehicle 2, east of the intersection.”

Police say everyone involved in the crash was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 47-year-old Midland man, was charged with careless driving — cause bodily harm or death. The driver's name was not released.
