Motorcyclist killed in Highway 400 crash; highway closed (update)

Incident occurred in northbound lanes between highways 88 and 89 Monday at around 6 a.m.; this stretch of the 400 reopened about five hours later, OPP says

The OPP says a fatal crash has occurred on Highway 400 in Innisfil.

Updated on July 29 at 11:40 a.m.: A fatal collision closed a stretch of Highway 400 north of Bradford for about five hours Monday morning.

The OPP reported that all northbound lanes were closed at Highway 88 following a crash between a motorcycle and pick-up truck. The incident occurred between highways 88 and 89 in Innisfil around 6 a.m.; traffic was exiting at 88. However, all northbound lanes did reopen around 11 a.m. 

Police say the 30-year-old male motorcyclist, from East Gwillimbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.

Officers from the Aurora detachment and highway safety division's traffic support unit are investigating. 

They're asking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage of either the motorcycle from around the time of the crash, or the collision itself, to call the Aurora OPP at 905-841-5777.
