UPDATED: OPP cruiser involved in collision at Midland intersection

Cruiser and pickup truck collided at Midland intersection Monday afternoon.

Highway 12 is reopen after an incident involving a grey pickup truck and OPP cruiser on Monday afternoon.

According to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP, the incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. at Highway 12 and King St. in Midland.

The OPP, Midland Fire and County of Simcoe Paramedics, responded to a collision where a police vehicle responding to an unrelated call for service was involved. 

The intersection was closed for several hours as emergency services attended to the scene. 

The officer involved in the collision was transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The other driver was not transported to hospital.

The OPP said that the investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released at this time.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP closed a section of Highway 12 Monday afternoon as police investigated a collision involving a grey pickup truck and cruiser.

Few details about the crash have been released, but the OPP detachment is located just down the road from where the incident occurred.

In a release, the provincial force said it release further details and updates on the road advisory as information becomes available.
