The Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment’s snowmobile patrol were busy on the trails over the weekend.

Nine riders were charged with Motorized Snow Vehicle Act (MSVA) offences and 26 others were given warnings as the patrol rode over 200 kilometres on trails in North Simcoe.

The majority of the warnings were given to riders who failed to have a currently validated ownership permit for their snowmobiles.

The OPP’s patrol conceded with the start of Ontario Snowmobile Safety Week.

Over 250 snowmobilers were checked for proper equipment, required licenses, registration and trail passes. There were also six RIDE program stops set up along the trails.
