Christian Island woman charged after police seize suspected fentanyl

A 31-year-old faces drug possession charges following an incident that occurred earlier this week.

In a news release issued today, Southern Georgian Bay OPP say officers responded to a call around 8:14 a.m. on Oct. 13 of a quantity of street drugs being in the possession of a person in a Midland area medical centre.

Officers located the suspect and upon investigation seized a quantity of street drugs believed to be fentanyl.

As a result, Alexandra Assance, of Christian Island was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance - Opioid (other than heroin) contrary to the controlled drug and substances act.

The accused was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on Nov. 28, 2024..
