Meatland has won a MidlandToday Reader Favourite award in the Butchers and Meatshops category, one year after the business’ ownership was passed to the third generation.
Mitch Noack, son of previous owners Kurt and Christine Noack, purchased the business from his parents almost exactly a year ago, on December 1st, 2023. He bought it with longtime Meatland employees, his coworkers Trevor Przybyszewski and Mike Robitaille.
“We’re all passionate about what we do here, so when we got the opportunity to take it over, it was exciting to say the least,” says Mitch.
“It was a no-brainer really,” adds Trevor.
When the three business owners heard about being voted a Reader Favourite, Mitch says they were thrilled. “It’’s nice seeing all the community support. We like doing what we do and we’re really happy that people appreciate it.”
Mitch, Trevor and Mike believe that the community appreciates having a smaller, independently-owned grocery and meat shop in the area. They enjoy chatting with customers, getting to know them, and helping them find what they need. “I think it really boils down to the service,” says Mitch.
Customers compliment the friendliness and extensive experience that the owners bring to their work. The three of them have tried virtually every product that they have in store, and are happy to provide advice for cooking and preparation.
One glowing customer testimonial reads, “Always a pleasure to shop at Meatland. The quality of the meats is outstanding and the pricing is competitive. The store is spotless and we really appreciate being served by friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff.”
All three men were born and raised in Midland, and say they appreciate getting to serve both local residents and visiting tourists. Since the business is 65 years old, many customers tell them that their parents and grandparents shop at Meatland.
In addition to the business’ long history in town, Mitch, Trevor and Mike are doing something right to have been voted a Reader Favourite. One year into taking over the store, it’s an acknowledgment of their hard work.
“It's been our pleasure to serve this great community that we call home. We truly couldn't do this without the support of all of you, and couldn't be more thankful,” says Mitch.
“We appreciate and thank the community for all their support,” says Trevor. And, Mike adds, “We look forward to the future.”
