Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is looking for caring and passionate community members to fill positions on its Board of Directors.

Waypoint Centre is a Catholic sponsored academic and research hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care to some of the most complex and disadvantaged people in Ontario. It is one of only four specialized mental health hospitals in Ontario.

“We are looking for people who have experience as part of a public sector, not-for-profit or corporate Board, or as a senior executive,” explained a Waypoint spokesperson. “Also, successful candidates should be experienced governors who have knowledge of the healthcare system.”

The CEO and Board of Directors of Waypoint work on strategy and oversight, monitor performance, quality and risk management, and ensure sustainable operations. As well, the Board focuses on outreach and improving services through fundraising activities and events in the community.

“The role of our Board is to govern and oversee the affairs of the hospital in keeping with its mission, vision and values of caring, respect, innovation and accountability,” explained the spokesperson.

They added, “Waypoint actively supports a culture of diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all who reflect the diverse communities Waypoint serves, including representatives from the Francophone, Indigenous and BIPOC communities.”

The Waypoint Centre is a 315-bed teaching hospital located on the shores of Georgian Bay. As well, Waypoint consists of a wide array of community integrated and partnered services, and the Waypoint Research Institute.

The over 1300 staff at Waypoint work tirelessly to improve the lives of people with mental illness and addictions, as well as frail older adults.

“Each patient’s journey is unique, and we support their recovery with compassion, dignity and inclusivity,” expanded the spokesperson. “Waypoint staff are internationally recognized for their leadership and research, which they approach with professionalism and humility.”

If you feel that you have the drive, experience and interest to support the Waypoint Centre as a member of the Board of Directors, please contact Nicky Marchant, Manager Corporate Officer and Board Liaison at [email protected] to obtain an application form.
