A local agency hopes residents will help raise funds to provide North Simcoe families with ‘ready to cook’ meals.
As part of the worldwide GivingTuesday movement Nov. 30, Centre de santé communautaire Chigamik Community Health Centre is asking community members to dig into their wallets to support its goal of providing local families with meals for the holidays. Chigamik staff will assemble the food baskets and deliver them to local families.
“By joining the GivingTuesday campaign again this year, we’re hoping to inspire everyone in our community to promote the spirit of giving back,” Chigamik interim executive director Jessica North said.
“Whether it’s helping a neighbour, advocating for an issue, having a skill, encouraging kindness or giving to a charity, every act of generosity counts.”
Since 2012, GivingTuesday has united millions of Canadians to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
In a release, Chigamik thanked its community partners – Askennonia Seniors Centre, Belleroots Farm, Farm2Door, Foodland Midland, Georgian Bay Métis Council, Graffiti Art, LA Farms, Midland Fire Department and Mary and Ray Nason – "for their generous donations."
