The Ontario government is providing six non-profit organizations in Simcoe North with $423,500 in funding this year through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Seed Grant stream.

The funding will help provide local residents better access to the critical programs, services, activities and spaces that make Simcoe North a great place to live, work and play.

“Our government believes local non-profit organizations enrich the lives of people in Simcoe North and play an important role in building a strong community and prosperous economy. That is why our government is proud to support these program and service providers through OTF’s Seed Grant stream,” said Jill Dunlop, MPP for Simcoe North.

“Organizations such as those receiving this funding in Simcoe North are pillars of our community. This support will enable them to deliver essential programming and better serve the people of Midland and the surrounding area, making a positive difference for years to come.”

OTF’s Seed Grant stream helps organizations build resilience and enhance their ability to deliver programs and services that directly benefit community members. Grantees can use their funding to support organizational planning, pilot a new program and/or build their organizational capacity to plan for future programs and services for the people of Simcoe North.

In Simcoe North, organizations receiving funding include:

  • Askennonia Senior Centre, Midland, $71,900
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe, Midland, $88,400
  • Quest Art School + Gallery, Midland $45,900
  • Hospice Huronia, Penetanguishene, $100,000
  • Township of Ramara, $17,600
  • Township of Severn, $99,700

“In Simcoe North and all across Ontario, non-profit organizations are delivering critical programming that is helping people train for new careers, stay active, learn new things, and connect with their community,” said Stan Cho, minister of tourism, culture and gaming. “This Seed Grant funding will help ensure these non-profits can build their capacity and prepare for the future so they can continue to support the needs of communities across our province today and tomorrow.”
