'Million Dollar Dinner' brings in $3.35 million for GBGH

A total of 23 donors made commitments through this event, to support upcoming projects and priorities for Midland hospital and its foundation

The Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation hosted an intimate fundraising gathering earlier this month, which raised $3.35-million in gifts and pledges.

A total of 23 donors made commitments through this event, to support upcoming projects and priorities for GBGH and the Foundation.

In June, the Foundation announced that they would not be hosting a large, in-person gala or event in 2024.

Instead, a total of three smaller events were held, including the ‘Million Dollar Dinner’. The events were hosted by individual donors, and allowed for more intimate conversations to bring guests closer to the cause that is close to their hearts.

“We have the privilege of working with some incredible philanthropists in this community, and they continue to amaze us with their generosity,” shares Jesse Dees, chief development officer, GBGH Foundation. “As we embark on a $20-million capital campaign for mental health, mammography and capital equipment, we are grateful to have them working alongside us to ensure its success.”

The Foundation is in the beginning stages of planning for this major capital campaign, and the focus on strengthening relationships and building partnerships is vital to success. The team will be continuing this focus throughout the coming year, and officially launching the campaign in 2025.
