NEWS RELEASE
TOWNSHIP OF TINY

The Township of Tiny is pleased to announce that the fire and emergency services department successfully conducted testing in order to achieve the Fire Underwriters Survey rating accreditation for superior tanker shuttle service.

In order to achieve this accreditation, the fire and emergency services department completed tests to show that it can continuously provide water supplies in excess of the minimum requirements. Receiving the superior tanker shuttle service accreditation means that the Township of Tiny Fire and Emergency Services has demonstrated the ability to transport water to rural fire scenes to protect our community.

Achievements of the accreditation include:

  • Flow rate achievement of a minimum of 950 litres per minute of water;
  • Maintain the flow of water for two hours, uninterrupted;
  • The test site must be within eight kilometres of the fire station(s) and must be at least five kilometres from the water fill site where the tankers are reloaded.

“This certification confirms the level of service available to our residents. The Township of Tiny Fire and Emergency Services department is pleased to have received this accreditation as an example of our commitment to providing excellent fire protection,” said Dave Flewelling, director of fire and emergency services/fire chief.

Additionally, the accreditation provides potential financial benefits to residents, located within eight kilometres of a fire station and five kilometres of an approved water source, in the township. Homes within the township may be eligible for a reduction in insurance premiums as a result of the accreditation. Residents should contact their insurance agency directly to inquire if they qualify for a rate reduction.

There are five fire stations within the Township of Tiny, and are as listed:

Station 1 — 384 Lafontaine Rd. W., Lafontaine

Station 2 — 817 County Rd. 6 S., Wyevale

Station 3 — 7 Toanche Trail, North West Basin (Toanche)

Station 4 — 8186 County Rd. 93, Wyebridge

Station 5 — 2020 Tiny Beaches Rd. S., Woodland Beach
