Alice “Gail” Edwards of Alliston, Ontario passed away on June 19th, 2024, in her 82nd year, surrounded by the love and laughter of her adoring family.

Gail was born on August 4, 1942 to Mary Ethel Anderson and Ernest Henry Edwards in North York, Ontario. One of seven siblings, Gail spent time living in Ontario and Quebec, including Midland, Lachute, Uxbridge, Toronto, Allenwood Beach, Victoria Harbour, Cornwall, Ingleside, and summers on San Souci Island.

Gail loved to sing and as a young woman, performed as part of a quartet travelling around the province. She was a beauty pageant winner, worked as a keypunch operator for the Ontario Provincial Police, and was always on the hunt for her next adventure. Gail had an insatiable sense of humour and loved to tease her friends and family.

Loving Mom, Nanny, Deedee, and GG, Gail leaves cherished memories with her three children, Monica Poirier (Paolo), Bryan Poirier, Scott Poirier, and stepson Michael Poirier (Sharon); her 8 grandchildren, Cheryl-Anne Ross (Matthew), Matthieu Payette (Carly), Brianne Jones (Oliver), Brayden Poirier (Ginny), Samantha Lafave (Joshua), Kohen Poirier, Krista Goodmurphy (Dave), and Erin Poirier Lupo (Marco) ; six great grandchildren, Ethan, Liam, Mila, Lachlan, Elliette, Levi and many nieces and nephews.

Gail was predeceased by her former husbands Lucien Poirier and Bob McPherson, her siblings Pat Turkington (Doug), Jerry Edwards (Velma), Mike Edwards (Mickey), Ron Edwards, and Wayne Edwards. Gail is survived by her sister Patsy Przybyszewski, sisters in law Claudette Aucoin, Kitty Edwards and Linda Edwards.
She will be deeply missed by the many friends and acquaintances she made over her lifetime.

Gails final resting place will be Lakeview Cemetary, Midland Ontario overlooking the shores of Georgian Bay – a special place she always considered home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Alliston Humane Society, Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre or to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the PSW caregivers from Community Home Health Care, for their special compassion, care and support.
