October 15, 1937 – February 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Gonzalez on Monday February 3rd at the age of 87. He was the son of Pedro Gonzalez Garcia and Alice Gonzalez (Parker) both predeceased. Predeceased by his first wife and mother of his three children Denise Gonzalez (Rocheleau). Survived by his wife Julie Gonzalez (Taylor) and devoted father to Pedro (Lizanne), Michelle and Patrice (Leanne). He leaves behind Julie’s children Derek and Darryl and daughters’ in law Amber and Melanie. Very proud “Pepe” to his 14 grandchildren Ashley (Matthew), Michael, Jonathan (Giselle), Natalie (Ryan), Nikko (Nicholle), Erica (Travis), Joshua (Lindsay), Brianna (Cody), Zachary (Jess), Matthew (Maria), Cole, Emmett, Asher and Tessa. Also a very proud great grandfather to his 12 great grandchildren Grayson, Addilyn, Margot, Grant, Jack, Wendy, Ava, Bennett, Wesley, Aneilia, Isla and June. Also survived by his sister Diane Stamco (George predeceased), and supportive father in law of Dennis. Predeceased by his brother William (Jacqueline predeceased), his sister Isabelle and his brother Henry (Evelyn predeceased).
Ron’s career began as an Able Seaman 1st Class and TAS Operator from 1955-1960. He then became a Police Officer with the town of Hearst from 1960-1968 where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant making him the youngest Sergeant at the young age of 26. From Hearst he transferred to the Tisdale Police Department from 1968-1972. He went on to work in the mining industry from 1972 until his retirement starting as a Red Seal Journeyman Millwright and ending as an Engineering and Maintenance Manager.
In his retirement he dedicated his time to the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers, the Legion Branch 68 in Penetanguishene and a variety of other volunteering efforts.
His passions were hockey and golf. He played hockey until the age of 82 and played his last few holes of golf at the age of 86.
His proudest achievement was his Family!
He thoroughly enjoyed time spent in his garden. Oh, how he loved his garlic!
His faithful companion, Bonita (dog), was by his side until the very end.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10th at the Penetanguishene Funeral Home from 12:30-2pm followed by a funeral from 2:00pm Subsequently, a Legion Veteran Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 68, in Penetanguishene at 3:00pm and the celebration of Ron's life and luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Ron, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 68 Penetanguishene, Alzheimer’s Society of Simcoe County or the Canadian Cancer Society.
