It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Patricia Gail Lemieux on December 17, 2024, in her 87th year. She will be reunited with her beloved husband of 61 years Jim Lemieux (2021). Lovingly remembered by her children Bret (Tricia) Lemieux, Marc Lemieux and Nicole (Greg) Tacker. Cherished Grandmother of James Lemieux, Emma Lemieux, Daniel Tacker and Ethan Tacker. Great Grandmother of Kai Lemieux.
Gail was predeceased by her Father John Lorne Sanders. Mother Emily Ellen Sanders (nee Clarke), brother Sandy Sanders, Father-in-law Frederick Lemieux, Mother-in-Law Margaret Lemieux (nee Grigg) and brother-in-law Rick (Joan) Lemieux. Gail is survived by her sister Joyce (late Bob) Knechtel and sister-in-law Marion (late Ray) Deeton.
Gail moved from her hometown of London to Midland in 1959 to work at Pillsbury. During a shopping trip downtown, Gail met her future husband Jim “hanging off a parking meter” and the rest is, as they say, history. Jim and Gail raised their 3 children on Manly Street in Midland before moving to Barrie in 1980 where they lived on Springhome Road. Gail was a lady of exceptional taste and class.
Gail worked at the old Penetang General Hospital, and thereafter the Mental Health Centre. When Gail moved with her family to Barrie, she worked at Medical Data Systems (MDS).
Gail was also an avid and passionate volunteer with the Girl Guides of Canada. In 2012, after many years of dedicated volunteer service, Gail received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her outstanding contributions to the Osteoporosis Society and osteoporosis care in Canada. Gail was relentlessly positive and dynamic and instilled these qualities in her family. Gail loved to work in her garden when at home, it was her pride and joy.
A private family service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Midland where she will rest alongside Jim.
